Older Adult Abuse
Older adult abuse can come in many forms, including physical, psychological, financial, sexual, and neglect. If you feel you or someone you know is in danger, call 911. Additional resources on preventing, recognizing, and reporting abuse are available from the Maryland Department of Aging.
Financial Exploitation
Older adults are not always aware that they have been victims of financial exploitation. It's important to learn who is at risk, how it happens, and ways to prevent and recognize the warning signs of potential financial abuse.
Long-Term Care Residents
The Maryland Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program advocates for the health, safety, well-being, and rights of residents in assisted living and nursing homes. Ombudsmen work at the direction of the resident and only take action with the resident's consent.
Other legal protections for Marylanders may be available. For example:

Contact your local MAP office to learn about available programs that you may qualify for.
