Transportation

Access to safe and reliable transportation is essential in remaining independent and active. For many older adults and people with disabilities who do not drive, supportive transportation services improve their access to healthy food, health care, employment, essential services, and their communities.

Mobility Services for People with Disabilities

Mobility specialized transit is a service available to people who are unable to get to a bus stop, wait unassisted at a stop or station, or board or ride a bus or train by themselves due to a disability.

Village Model Network

Many Village model community-based organizations provide peer-to-peer volunteer transportation supports for older adults and people with disabilities.

Senior Care

Senior Care provides a range of supports for eligible older adults and people with disabilities to help them live in their homes and communities, including transportation services.

Other Resources

Other programs to help Marylanders with transportation may be available. For example:

Non-Emergency Medical Transportation is provided in many communities to help older adults and people with disabilities get to medical appointments.

Disability-Related Transportation services are available in many communities for those who qualify.

Contact your local MAP office to learn about available programs that you may qualify for.

Resources for Older Drivers

The Maryland Department of Transportation offers resources for older and medically at-risk drivers, including driver assessments, educational materials, and tools and tips.
